This project retrofitted the majority of the light fixtures in the building to use higher efficient T8 fluorescent lamps. This increased the quality of light out of the existing light fixtures as well as decreased the amount of energy needed to power them. In addition to the updated light fixtures, occupancy sensors were added to all offices, classrooms, conference rooms and restrooms.
Due to budget constraints and the custom sized ceiling panels, the best way to accomplish this was to reuse the existing fixtures, and leave in place the unneeded fixtures. We are saving almost 125,000 kWh annually, which equates to an estimated annual savings of $8,300 (FY13 rates).
