This facility is one of the first net-zero buildings in the State of Iowa. The center is powered by 960 photovoltaic (PV) panels and the lobby is tempered with heat pumps. Each PV panel has an output of 215 watts, which is a total of 206,400 watts for the system. This amount of electricity is equivalent to powering approximately 75-100 average-sized homes. The surplus power created from these panels is fed back into UNI's electrical grid for use by other campus buildings.
